Farming & Wildlife Awards

FWAG SouthWest’s Farming & Wildlife Awards recognise commercial farms that have successfully combined food production with sustainability, environmental protection and wildlife gains.

The competitions are key items in delivering our charitable aims as they are a major opportunity to build strong relationships between farmers and the wider community, showcasing the wonderful conservation work many farmers carry out.

County Competitions

FWAG SW currently run county based competitions in Cornwall, Devon and Gloucestershire.

The winners are automatically entered into the Regional Barn Owl Trophy the following year.

Regional Competition

Barn Owl Trophy
The Barn Owl Trophy is FWAG SW’s flagship award to celebrate the best of farmland conservation and positive environmental practices across the six counties of the South West region.
As Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire do not have county competitions, farmers in these counties can apply directly to be their county’s entry in the regional Barn Owl Trophy.
The final decision as to who is the county’s entry will be made by local FWAG SouthWest advisers.
To find out more about any of the competitions, please call the FWAG SouthWest office on 01823 660684.

The Silver Lapwing award is a prestigious national award, primarily sponsored by Waitrose alongside other partner organisations. The presentation is a showcase event that receives considerable national and local press coverage, reflecting its high profile in the agricultural calendar.
