We’re looking for five new farms to take part in our Strategic Farm Programme, which has been set up to demonstrate the benefits of implementing best practice on farms and improve the financial performance of businesses.

There are already 11 farms, mainly focused around suckler production, participating in the programme. This year we’re looking to recruit farms from a range of systems but predominantly sheep businesses.

The programme targets key areas which influence business performance, including:

  • Breeding
  • Health
  • Grassland management
  • Cost of production

Strategic farms sign up for an initial two year period which can be extended to four years.

Why become a strategic farm?

Joining the strategic farm programme will provide you with:

  • A whole farm business assessment to understand the strengths and weaknesses of your enterprise
  • Access to consultancy advice including both financial and technical expertise
  • Access to new technologies including weighing equipment
  • Ability to be part of AHDB funded research studies

Levy payers will be able to track the improvements of the strategic farms through farm events, press articles and social media.

If you want to apply or find out more about the Strategic Farm Programme visit the Strategic Farms website.
