Farm Conservation Adviser - Team Leader - Full time permanent position based in the FWAG SouthWest Dorchester Office

Salary: £32,000 (Full time)



We are seeking an experienced, dynamic and motivated person to join us as Team Leader to a small but busy team of Farm Conservation advisers in Dorchester. The right candidate will have experience of delivering conservation advice to farmers, successful partnership working with relevant stakeholders and management of staff. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well respected charity to deliver and oversee delivery of environmental conservation across the county of Dorset.

FWAG SW provides environmental advice to farmers on a wide range of agricultural and conservation issues. We are seeking applicants for the post of Farm Conservation Advice Team Leader, based at our offices in Dorchester, Dorset. This post will combine management responsibilities with the provision of on-farm environmental advice to farmers and landowners, to deliver the charitable aims and objectives of FWAG SW.

Responsible for the co-ordination of FWAG SW delivery in Dorset, the successful applicant will line manage three to four advisers and develop new work streams. This will require partnership working and the development of new projects, with support from management and colleagues.

The post will also include some delivery of high-quality environmental advice to farmers through 1:1 farm visits, events and workshops as well as the preparation of reports and news articles for members.



The post will provide an exciting opportunity for someone who has a passion for the future of environmentally sensitive land management in Dorset . The role will include building on the strong relationship that exists between the NGO’s and statutory bodies actively involved in Dorset to develop projects and new work streams for FWAG South West, with the assistance of the General Manager and the wider FWAG SW team. The right candidate will be able to forge good relationships with farmers and land owners in the area and be able to influence and guide farmers in delivering high quality habitat conservation using tools such as Countryside Stewardship, as well as future and past agri-environment schemes, where applicable.

Additionally, the role will support and supervise delivery of projects and work streams by the wider Dorset team ensuring that projects are delivered on time and to budget.

Being part of a small team it is expected that the Team Leader will assist in the delivery of farm conservation advice in group and 1:1 advisory sessions, both under project delivery and with FWAG South West clients.
