Caroline Fowle FWAG SouthWest Trustee and Chairman of Kingfisher Award Scheme (KAS) Expand Caroline lives on a farm in East Devon that is mainly organic and has stewardship schemes in place. She has a particular interest in helping young people understand the connection between food, farming and wildlife and has been chairman of the Kingfisher Award Scheme (KAS) for over 10 years.
Chris Wilson FWAG SouthWest Trustee and Somerset Farmer Expand Chris Wilson joined the FWAG SW board of trustees in late 2022. Chris has a small scale beef farmer in Somerset, which also hosts a children’s nursery. The environment is core to both businesses. Chris have recently retired after 23 years, from managing a 3000 acre estate. He was responsible for a large robotic dairy, potatoes, combinable crops, business parks,cottages, renewable schemes and most importantly, 20 years of HLS.
Dougal Hosford FWAG SouthWest Chairman and Dorset Farmer Expand Dougal Hosford is a second generation tenant farmer on the Bryanston Estate near Blandford in Dorset. The family have been farming there for nearly 60 years and Dougal has a particular interest in conservation, managing a large stewardship scheme on the farm in harmony with the 1650 acres of combinable crops, 200 breeding ewe flock and 60 head suckler herd. Several of the traditional farm buildings have been converted to light industrial and office lets. Dougal won the FWAG SW Barn Owl trophy in 2013 and was runner up in the Silver Lapwing in 2014.
Matthew Morris FWAG SouthWest Trustee and Duchy of Cornwall Land Steward Expand Matthew Morris FRICS FAAV is a chartered surveyor and valuer and works for the Duchy of Cornwall as Land Steward. Based just outside Bath, his management remit stretches across some fifteen counties including Somerset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire. Prior to joining the Duchy and moving southwest, Matthew managed a large Estate in Cheshire and has helped to lead of a number of natural capital initiatives including natural flood management and habitat restoration projects. Outside of work, Matthew enjoys anything that involves mountains or the sea.
Sam Walker FWAG SouthWest Vice Chairman Expand Sam is a first-generation tenant farmer running a 140ha (350-acre) organic arable and beef farm on the Jurassic Coast of East Devon. He has a BSc from Harper Adams and previous jobs have included farm management in Gloucestershire and Cambridgeshire and overseas development work in Papua New Guinea and Zimbabwe. He spent several years teaching Agriculture at Duchy College and is an opinion writer for Farmers Weekly.
