Luke Dale-Harris Farm Environment Adviser Expand Luke started working with FWAG in 2016, initially working on policy and research following the EU referendum. Since 2018 he has worked from Devon, providing farm conservation advice, mostly on sustainable grazing management, Countryside Stewardship, agroforestry and accreditation schemes. He is also a director of Farm Wilder, a wildlife friendly beef and lamb marketing scheme. Before joining FWAG Luke worked as an investigative journalist, looking into issues around environment and corruption across Europe.
Oliver Maskrey Farm Environment Adviser Expand Oliver joined FWAG SW as a GIS and Advisory Support Officer in 2020 to provide mapping assistance across the region. After graduating from the University of Exeter with a degree in Zoology and a Masters in Food Security and Sustainable Agriculture, Oliver spent three years working in various roles across the food and farming sectors. He is now keen to put his accumulated skills and knowledge to good use within FWAG SW.
Sabine McEwan Senior Farm Environment Adviser & Devon Team Leader Expand Sabine joined FWAG in 2014 as a Farm Environment Adviser. She offers advice on diffuse pollution issues, soil management, natural flood management, conservation and agri-environment schemes in Devon and co-ordinates FWAG SW’s advice and project delivery across Devon. Until spring 2020, Sabine mainly worked on the Hills to Levels approach, combining natural flood management with diffuse pollution mitigation, conservation and river restoration. Before joining FWAG, she was researching the effects of different grassland management on soil and water quality as part of her PhD with the University of Exeter and North Wyke (Rothamsted Research).
Sammy Read Farm Environment Adviser Expand Sammy joined the FWAG SouthWest Gloucestershire Team in April 2021 and has since relocated to the Devon team. Farming has always been close to her heart due to growing up on a working farm in Somerset. She has a degree in Ecology and Wildlife Conservation and 4 years’ experience working for Natural England, which included working with farmers to create Higher Tier Countryside Stewardship agreements. For the last 2 years she has worked with Catchment Sensitive Farming and has delivered various projects around mitigation of soil erosion, supply chain engagement, and carbon & nutrient management.
Simeon Day Killerton Hedgerow Conservation Project Manager Expand Simeon joined FWAG SW in February 2021 as Manager of the Hedgerow Conservation Project on the National Trust Killerton Estate near Exeter. Working with tenant farmers and the Trust’s ranger team the Green Recovery Challenge Fund project will restore and create hedgerows across the 6,500 acre estate. Simeon has worked in the countryside management industry for over 25 years where his roles have taken him from tree surgery in Australia to installing forest school facilities in the South West, via managing Nature Reserves and leading team building events that deliver practical conservation projects for charities across the UK. Simeon is Chair of Orchards Live, a charity working to save and replant traditional orchards and local apple varieties in Devon.
Will Thorne Farm Environment Adviser Expand Will joined FWAG SW in December of 2019, having graduated in biology from Swansea University. Will is currently helping to facilitate on the Woods for Water project for Devon and assisting with Countryside Stewardship applications. With a farming background behind him coupled with a strong conservation interest, Will looks to assist farmers and landowners in making positive environmental land management decisions whilst promoting sustainable business.
